A Muslim Kids TV original story: The story of Abdul Haleem the Merchant

LEVEL: Pre-K +        LANGUAGE: English

Once upon a time there was a prince named Aaqil who was friends with a wealthy and trustworthy merchant named Abdul Haleem . the prince had to go far away to administer a city ruled by his father and so the prince decided to visit his friend Abdul Haleem and entrust to him a jewel precious to him (the jewel belonged to his mother the late Queen). It was a silver crown encrusted with precious jewels. Abdul Haleem took the crown and asked the prince when would be back from his journey. the prince said that he was not sure as if he were to return, for the trip to this city was dangerous and full of robbers on the way. His father the king was old and so the prince was entrusted with this mission and could not carry valuable things with him. Abdul Haleem the Merchant said to prince Aaqil may Allah make your journey a safe one and watch over you my friend. Now it happened that the prince had been gone for five years and our friend the Merchant Abdul Haleem was very ill. His business was not doing so well and he barley had food to eat. One day his wife came to him and said, Husband you have this silver crown if you sell it surely we will have enough to eat. To this Abdul Haleem answered, wife this has been entrusted to me and I would care for it until the prince my friend returns. Abdul Haleem got sicker and sicker each day till the point where he was bed ridden and he could no longer stand, with fever and a very bad cough. Again his wife came to him and said what if you remove a few jewels from the crown and sell it? To this Abdul Haleem said: Not even 1 my wife. The wife of the merchant understood and said you are right my dear husband let it be as Allah wills inshallah. If we are in trouble Allah will provide inshallah. At this moment the prince entered the room and seeing his friend Abdul Haleem in such a bad condition he ordered the royal doctor to come and treat his friend. The prince also ordered food to be brought into the home. Abdul Haleem's health improved and he no longer had fever. The prince visited his home again. Abdul Haleem returned the crown to the prince and the prince was amazed. why did you not sell the crown my friend? The money you would have obtained from it would have helped you get better - the prince said. My dear brother Aaqil - said Abdul Haleem . You entrusted me with this precious jewel and as a Muslim I guarded it as if it were mine. If I were to sell what is not mine is like buying hell fire for myself, but if I guard what has been entrusted to me I would follow the sunnah, the example of our beloved prophet (PBUH). Our prophet told us that this is the right way, the way of Allah and not even for a moment did I doubt that Allah would guide me and provide for me and my family. You are a very trustworthy and wise man said the prince. My father passed away three years ago and I just now got back from my journey to the city of Noor. I have been apointed king of this kingdom and I would think of no one else to be my grand vizier. As you have guarded this kingdom and its people and serve to them as a living example of the teachings of our beloved prophet Muhammad, inshallah by Allah's will. The merchant , his wife and children moved into the palace of the now king Aaqil and they lived happily teaching others about Allah, Islam and the virtue of trustworthiness.
